Flight School
Flight School is a great place to learn the studly art of air combat.
It is currently in its infancy and will hopefully fill out with time
to teach you everything worth knowing.
For now, you will find bits and pieces of text, and illustrative CAM files
within these hallowed (hollowed?) halls.
If you have any contributions you'd like to make, please do so.
We could use the basics of buffing and gunner techniques as well as
tanking tips and other interesting tidbits.
This page and its links are currently under a massive reorganization into
a real flight school course. Pieces will be sucked out of here and
integrated into the course over time and the course will eventually
take over.
Flight School Course
The syllabus will get you started on a course
which takes you from the ground up in learing to fly Air Warrior. The
course is still under development, so sections will be missing. Check
back at a future date for additions and updates to the course.
Tips and Techniques
This section is more or less a miscellaneous section which catches
anything for which I can't determine a useful categorization yet.

The Black Art of Deflection Gunnery - This document is a good description
on how to hit a moving target in AW. If you are not familiar with guns
only fighting, you should probably read this.
1v1 Fights: Aircraft Strengths and Weaknesses
While not all of these fights are strictly one vs one, they do show
how to use the strengths of one plane against the weaknesses of another.
There are other lessons to be learned as well.
- F-6F versus Ki
- FW-190
- P-38

Zip file of Rocketman's Yak techniques. Contains a CAM and
description of how to fly the Yak.
ACM/BFM
What's that magic manuever that you use to always get the kill?
Well, there isn't one. However, here are some good descriptions
of how to execute various manuevers and techniques.
Multi-plane engagements
Here's a good place to find out how wingmen work well together.
This will take some time to fill out since it seems to happen very
rarely or at least noone seems to talk about it much.
Team Tactics
Here's a pop quiz on team
tactics. It includes a CAM file to review, some questions on
what was done and why, and some answers to go along with it.

Missions
Bombing Acks
Here you are getting ready for you first major online ground pounder.
You are supposed to take out the ack sites at the enemy's home field.
No problem, just let me hop into drone land and ... NO ACKS?
Never fear, Jazzman's here. Thanks to the patience of our one and
only Jazzman, you can take-off and pound ack sights to your hearts
content. You can practice taking out the acks at A1 (
text and
film
) A14 (
text and
film
), or at C14 (
text and
film
).
Of course, this doesn't include the B-land fields, and is only for
the now half-time home fields, but you didn't expect the 666th to
release current intel, did you?
Well, that's not exactly true either. Check out the
terrain maps in the
archives for more info on field orientations and strategic targets.

Capturing Neutral Fields
There's a good description from Caligula on this in the archives. Need to
move it here.
